Disconnected

Based on Edvard Munch’s “The Separation”, this painting explores Munch’s style of painting while connecting the subject to myself. While “The Separation” shows the feeling of being separated from a loved one, I wanted to explore what it felt like to feel separated from oneself.

Giraffe

This one was a 1 hour project. Using a knife, I layered wet acrylic paint in an impasto style to create this textural animal portrait. Most of my paintings begin with a sketch or an underpainting of some sort. My goal with this piece however was not to be realistic but to enjoy the act of painting and create something with no reference and no plan in mind.

Fandom

My own take on Waterparks’ Fandom album cover. Instead of an orange half on a green gridded background, my model held an orange half in front of her, dressed in a similar color scheme to the actual album art.

Fire

A bit of a fun portrait in which the model was transformed into an elemental. In this case, fire.

Billie

Some simple digital portrait practice of Billie Eilish. Inspired by a photograph taken with strong green lights highlighting her face, I tried to capture the same feeling with a nearly monochromatic color scheme.

26

A self portrait in charcoal paired with lyrics from Paramore’s song “26”. This piece was not only an assigned figure drawing project in class but also a moment of self reflection. This piece studies the technical skills of drawing the figure, fabric, and the importance of choosing the proper pose for such a piece.

Glassy

This piece is a simple still life of some glass items. It was a school assignment that I enjoyed immensely as it was one of the first times I used oil pastels and realized how much I like the medium.
